OPTIMIZE EVERY RIDE

Hybrid Mode

When the battery has more than a 1% charge, it can run in Electric Mode. This allows for nearly zero tailpipe emissions up to highway speeds. The vehicle can run in this mode for up to 21 miles

Electric Mode

The default mode, Hybrid, combines torque from both the 2.0L turbocharged engine and the electric motors. This combination provides maximum horsepower, instant torque and the best acceleration. Electric power is consumed first.

Where Does the 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Get its Power?

The Wrangler 4xe uses a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) system. The basic configuration of a PHEV is an internal combustion engine, a minimum of one electric motor, and a rechargeable EV battery pack. For the Wrangler 4xe, Jeep uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, and a 400-volt lithium-ion battery pack. One electric motor is mounted to the front of the engine, taking the place of the standard alternator, while the second takes the place of the traditional torque converter within the transmission. The battery pack is recharged by an external power source through an EV charging cord. With this setup, the Wrangler 4xe achieves 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, it maintains an average of 49 MPGe, which is the electric equivalent of miles per gallon. If you’re curious about the Wrangler 4xe’s range, you’ll be happy to know that on a full charge and full tank, it offers 370 miles of total driving and 21 miles of electric-only driving on a full charge! Jeep gave 4xe its name by conjoining ‘four-by-four’ and ‘electric’. Therefore, all Wrangler 4xe models come standard with Selec-Trac 4×4. Read below to learn more about the Wrangler 4xe’s 4×4 capability.

4×4 Capability of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe

As was previously mentioned, the Wrangler 4xe uses the Selec-Trac 4×4 system. This intuitive full-time 4×4 system makes the Wrangler 4xe ideal for any and all road conditions and surfaces. On smooth, dry pavement, Selec-Trac will default to two-wheel drive, maximizing fuel efficiency. When driving on loose gravel, mud, or in heavy rain, the system will automatically shift into four-wheel drive without any driver input to intelligently maintain traction. The Rubicon 4xe comes exclusively with Rock-Trac part-time 4×4. This has a gear ratio of just 4:1 to make it easier to conquer rugged terrain at low speeds. By coordinating with the Wrangler Rubicon 4xe’s locking front and rear differentials, Rock-Trac helps maintain steady momentum while simultaneously increasing traction.

Trim Levels and Features of the 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe

The Wrangler 4xe may use electric power, but it is still every bit a Wrangler as the gas model. This includes the open-air freedom that the Wrangler is known for, courtesy of a removable top, fold-down windshield, and removable doors. Additionally, the Wrangler 4xe lineup only comes in the four-door Unlimited body style. The lineup is kicked off by the military-inspired Willys, featuring rugged mud-terrain 32-inch tires, rock rails, FOX shock absorbers, LED lighting, and a locking rear differential. The Sahara trim follows with an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a proximity key, 20-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, navigation, an 8.4-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, and push-button ignition. The Rubicon trim takes you, well, anywhere, with high clearance fender flares, functional hood vents, a disconnecting front sway bar, 33-inch all-terrain tires, Rock-Trac 4×4, and FOX shock absorbers. The High Altitude trim tops off the lineup with a body-color hard top, exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels, blindspot monitoring, body-color side mirrors with integrated turn signals, rear parking sensors, and Nappa leather-trimmed upholstery.
