What powers the 2022 Jeep Compass?
The 2022 Jeep Compass lineup features a 2.4-Liter Inline-4 cylinder engine with 177 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a standard 6-speed automatic transmission that powers the front wheels on the Sport and Latitude trims. However, the Latitude LUX and Limited trim come with Jeep’s Active Drive 4×4 system driven by an 8-speed automatic transmission. Active Drive uses a single-speed transfer case and disconnecting rear axle for maximum capability and fuel economy. Active Drive shifts into four-wheel drive when more traction is needed and then disengages the rear axle, reverting back to front-wheel drive when driving in dry conditions. This happens seamlessly and automatically without any driver input.
